Such a shame there are game breaking bugs as this looked so good.
1. When you go to the library to read the book near the start of the game if you are to the right of the book it freezes and crashes.
2. Going in to the cave there is a spider. Game breaking bug that you cannot do anything, can't go back, can't fight, can't get past spider.
Such a shame it breaks so early on as it looks like you put a lot of work into it.
I got soft locked in the cave trying to save Odette's crew. I'm unable to kill or interact with the spider girl, can't shoot arrows, or leave the cave and restart. :(
Turns out I ran out of arrows for the day and was stuck. I guess just put a warning or something to prevent the player from going in without arrows. :)

Sorry that happened to you. I have not heard of that bug yet so thank you for reporting it. If you would like, I can give you a save up to that point. Just message me on Discord if you would like.
I can confirm the bug. I can send you a save game file so you can see. You get into the cave and you cannot go back nor do anything with the spider.

How to kill the tree and save the last giantess
once you hit the tree enough times, one of the crystals should turn white. Hit the white crystal to shatter it. Repeat this again, but now with two trees.

Without opening the menu, just close out of the game. Reload the autosave file.
Let me know if this saved your file. If not, send it over on discord and I will fix this for you. I will add this bug fix to the next update.

Given the controls are standard for the engine, would you be able to elaborate on which controls and game mechanics are "bad"?
When starting a new game, I am unable to interact with the crafting table in the druids shop to craft the potion after getting the ingredients and being told to craft them. Also two little details: in the relations journal the caretaker entry says "he was always very supportive" instead of "she" or "they"; when talking to the druid the first time, it says "6 monthsago".
This has been fixed with 0.20(b). Let me know if you have any other troubles since I had to remove a few plugins for compatibility.

After learning how to hunt the game doesnt prevent you from triggering the scene with the giants before even getting the quest from the witch. I therefore cannot further progress with the quest. Also after doing the premature giants quest I've met and helped the farmer but speaking to the druid doesnt do anything after it. This might be due to the first mentioned issue.
Sorry to hear about that problem. I do see the problem with the giant quest starting early. I have gone through the entire game and replicated your issue. I found the problem with the seed dialogue bug not showing up and fixed this to not be dependent on the main quest.
To do the giant quest, you will have to finish the story up until the H-scene with Odette. After completing that, the Giant side quest and farming side quests should fall sequentially. Please download V. 0.15c. However, this may require a new save file due to some of the changes.
